UDG

“So to start off ‘UDG’ stands for underground. Simply because the locations for the projects are mainly shot in underground carparks and undercover spots, plus a lot of the music is also more or less from underground artists and genres within mostly electronic music.”

UDG 1
“During the winter of 2019, me and Joel used to skate a lot in underground car parks since it was dry and not nearly as cold as being outside. So we had the idea that it could be fun to shoot a little parkour video for instagram in that type of location and have some kind of house/dnb track over it. So the next day we went out to shoot and then edit what eventually became the first part of “UDG”. We liked it so much that we decided to make it a YouTube video instead and ended up continuing to shoot more the day after and brought our close friend Arvid Nygren to join us.
When editing the footage I just wanted to add on to what I’d already edited, but I still wanted to use a different song to mix things up. So I tried my best to smoothly mix the previous song into the next one and then worked from there with the new footage. So it became like a whole bunch of “instagram edits” put together as one whole video in the end. Which is how the layout of “UDG” videos Started.

For “UDG 2” we obviously had a clearer vision of what we wanted after doing the first edition. The main differences were that we used way more spots for filming and also added an element of graffiti for the video, contributing to the “underground vibe”. I also listened toa whole lot of Dj Screw during that year which certainly shows in the edit. And this time we also had Hugo and Affe with us for the project!

UDG 3
The most recent “UDG 3” is by far my favourite project in the series so far, even though I dislocated my arm. I think it’s because we had pretty much everything planned out from start to finish. We had nearly the whole crew and our friend Lisa Schneider with us this time, along with some other friends who joined in.This time we didn’t just shoot in Stockholm but also down in the south of Sweden where Kevin and Hugo live. Which meant we could use Kevin’s car to drive around and also carry extra lights and tripods way easier than taking the metro. What also made this project one of my favourites is that I had during that year been nerding myself into a lot of electronic music and mixing/dj-ing. Which meant that I had a ton of songs that I had found for the video even before we started filming. On top of that I had a whole new understanding of how you could transition between different songs for a smoother and better mix. Other than that I knew from the start that I wanted this one to feel a bit more “psychedelic”, by playing more with colors and sounds than I had done on the previous ones. In the end it’s for sure the project I’m the happiest with so far, even though I ended up in a hospital for a day in Malmö haha.”
